Responsibilities: As a senior member of the management team, you will:

• Develop and maintain an effective financial and accounting unit to support our business growth in Uganda.
• Review and monitor company financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory/statutory requirements.
• Maintain accounting controls and recommend policies and procedures.
• Manage the relationship with external auditors and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop staff within the Finance team.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to ensure new products align with accounting and tax requirements.
• Lead by embodying Wave’s values and fostering a culture of integrity and excellence within the team.

Key Details:

• Location: Kampala, Uganda (with potential travel to field locations).
• Work authorization in Uganda is required.
• Permanent position.
• Competitive salary with a thirteenth cheque for employees with 6+ months tenure, along with an equity package.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s degree preferred).
• Full CPA/ACCA qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Auditing/Accounting/Finance.
• Familiarity with financial reporting requirements in Uganda.
• Strong time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and collaborate across different functions and geographies.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel; experience in an audit firm is advantageous.
