About EU:
The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 28 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid, and working with global organizations. The EU Delegation to Uganda supports Uganda’s priority needs, including fostering sustainable development, sound governance, macro-economic policies, improved infrastructure connectivity, and strengthening agriculture.

Job Summary:
Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Curious about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU represents its interests and values in Uganda? The EU Delegation offers a traineeship of up to 6 months within the Political Press and Information Section, starting in October 2024.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researching and analyzing information.
  • Contributing to drafting analytical reports on policies and current affairs.
  • Supporting in the preparation of events organized by the Delegation.
  • Participating in external meetings and events and reporting about them.
  • Assisting in the preparation of visits, missions, and meetings.
  • Supporting the Press Officer in preparing daily press reviews and visibility actions.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Diploma (or equivalent) in political science, social science, journalism, or economics.
  • Very good command of spoken and written English.
  • Highly motivated, willing to learn, and able to work in a multi-cultural team.
  • Strong sense of initiative, research, writing, and analysis skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proven interest in EU affairs and international relations.

Additional Requirements (Assets):

  • Completed or ongoing Master studies in international relations or related field.
  • Knowledge of Uganda’s parliamentary affairs and institutional system.
  • Experience in analysis of economic and sociological data.
  • Experience in working in a team and coordinating inputs from various colleagues.
  • Social media and networking skills.
