The Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala is the diplomatic mission of The Kingdom of Denmark. The Embassy connects Denmark and Uganda, handling projects backed by Danish International Aid, supporting Danish companies in Uganda, and assisting Danish citizens.

Job Summary:
The Danish Embassy is seeking a Senior Programme Advisor to manage and drive their work on green agri-business, small-holder farmers, agri-finance, and climate change adaptation. This role involves overseeing projects with core partners such as aBi Development and aBi Finance, with a total budget of UGX 65 billion. If you have solid experience in project cycle management, development cooperation, and expertise in agribusiness, agri-finance, and climate, we would like to hear from you!

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Drive implementation of projects throughout the programme cycle, including results frameworks, monitoring, performance targets, and oversight.
2. Lead the continuous development and improvement of the green agri-business and finance portfolio through close contact with implementing partners.
3. Ensure proper financial management, review audits, and ensure compliance with Danish rules. Maintain high-quality grants administration and reporting, both financial and narrative.
4. Coordinate and foster synergies with like-minded programmes through dialogue and partnerships with key stakeholders, including development partners and the Government of Uganda.
5. Participate in partners’ governance structures, representing and supporting the Embassy on boards of directors, committees, and shareholder/member meetings.
6. Ensure compliance with EU rules under a delegated partnership. This position is part of a delegated partnership with the EU, and the tasks contribute to this.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
– Master’s degree in agriculture, business, climate, development management, finance, economics, or a related field.
– Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a programme manager and in administration and management of grants. Experience with another development partner is advantageous.
– At least 3 years’ experience working in agriculture, agri-business, agri-finance, climate change, environment, or related fields.
– Experience in managing partner organisations concerning grants management. Corporate governance experience is beneficial, as is experience with EU grants.
– Proficiency in financial management, including budget development, monitoring, and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
