With over 25 years of experience and work in more than 100 countries, ABA ROLI and its partners aim to strengthen legal institutions, support legal professionals, uphold human rights, and advance public understanding of the law and citizen rights.

Job Summary:

ABA ROLI Uganda Program is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and highly organized Project Finance and Administrative Assistant (FAA) to support finance and logistics matters in the Uganda Office. The FAA will work closely with the Field Finance Manager to manage financial and administrative operations efficiently.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Finance duties:

  • Implement administrative systems for finance, budgeting, procurement, and travel.
  • Organize expense receipts, assign budget codes, and input key data into Chrome River.
  • Support budgeting and accounting of expenses.
  • Assist in reviewing and vetting local partner financial reports.
  • Compile monthly expense reports and respond to inquiries.
  • Prepare monthly cash forecasts in collaboration with the Program Team.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and proper cost allocation.
  • Assist with office banking, including inter-bank transfers and banking documents.
  • Maintain administrative records electronically and in hard copy, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Obtain pro forma quotes from vendors, participate in bid evaluation and vendor selection.
  • Maintain office inventory and foster good relations with government offices, banks, and vendors.

Logistical support to program:

  • Assist in planning and implementing project activities such as workshops and meetings.
  • Make logistical arrangements to support project activities.
  • Attend program events to assist with logistical and disbursement matters.
  • Create checklists and track travel and workshop logistics.
  • Interface with program partners on workshop, travel, and other logistics.

Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Finance or related field. Qualifications in ACCA and CPA are an added advantage.
  • 3-5 years of proven administrative or assistant experience, with prior experience in NGOs or INGOs advantageous.
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and financial functions.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience organizing large amounts of data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, Chrome River, and online platforms.
  • Knowledge of finance laws, procedures, and management.
  • Resourceful, creative, and able to design flexible options to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, small office environment and able to multitask.
  • Highly organized, proactive, hardworking, focused, and detail-oriented.
  • Fluency in written and oral English.
