Summary:
Interswitch, an Africa-focused integrated digital payments and commerce company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with accounting standards, provide strategic financial guidance, and monitor day-to-day financial activities to contribute to the organization’s financial health.

Job Title: Senior Accountant
Function: Finance & Supply Chain
Location: Uganda

Job Purpose:

• Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures for financial health and compliance.
• Prepare financial statements and collaborate with senior management on financial plans aligned with company goals.
• Monitor financial performance, analyze revenues and expenses, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Collaborate with senior management on financial plans and budgets.
• Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast.
• Analyze revenues, commissions, and expenses.
• Update and ensure compliance with Accounting policy and IFRS.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities.
• Support Finance team members and advise on technical accounting queries.
• Analyze financial statements and report variances.
• Check payment schedules and conduct cash count exercises.
• Review monthly schedules and ensure balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support financial and tax auditing processes.
• Reconcile management accounts and support annual statutory audit.
• Communicate and liaise with external auditors.
• Stay updated on accounting standards and local regulatory changes.

Education:

• 1st degree in Financial Accounting or related course.
• Professional certifications: At least level 3 of CPA or ACCA.

Experience:

• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role for an organization of similar size and complexity.
• Audit for professional services experience is an added advantage.
