Summary:
The Receptionist role at UNHCR involves organizing and coordinating the reception area, ensuring visitors and persons of concern have access to UNHCR staff and services. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of a (Senior) Associate or Officer, maintaining professionalism and integrity while adhering to UNHCR’s regulatory framework.

Duties:

  • Ensure visitors and clients receive full access to UNHCR services while respecting their privacy.
  • Receive, screen, and assist visitors, guiding them to the appropriate officer.
  • Manage incoming calls, transfer them to concerned officers, or provide general information.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, manage internal courier distribution, and maintain visitor/client records.
  • Utilize office equipment when necessary and perform any required clerical duties.
  • Identify and prioritize individuals or groups at the reception based on vulnerability criteria.
  • Support risk management and decision-making processes, reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • G3 level: 1 year relevant experience with a High School Diploma; or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • No specific field of education required.
  • Good knowledge of proGres (HCR database) is desirable.
  • Functional skills in IT-Computer Literacy and IT-IT Refugee Systems & Applications are essential.
  • Language requirements: Knowledge of English and the UN working language of the duty station.

Work Hours: 8 hours per day

Experience: 12 months

Education: Associate Degree
