Summary: The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator for its Policy and Private Sector-CASCADE project in Uganda. This initiative aims to increase access to healthy diets and enhance the resilience of vulnerable populations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing project activities, engaging with key stakeholders, and supporting policy initiatives in alignment with GAIN’s objectives.

DESCRIPTION: Overall Purpose: The Project Coordinator will work to strengthen GAIN’s CASCADE Uganda project, supporting the government of Uganda in implementing the Uganda Nutrition Action Plan II. The role involves policy support, influencing agenda, private sector engagement, and project management coordination.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of CASCADE project activities in Uganda.
  • Review and synthesize key government food and nutrition policy documents.
  • Contribute to drafting reports, policy papers, and briefs.
  • Monitor and engage with key policy forums and meetings.
  • Represent GAIN in policy engagements with stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with private sector entities.
  • Organize workshops and events with private sector actors.
  • Develop project implementation plans and update key project documents.
  • Ensure timely project updates and reporting.
  • Provide technical input in project design and evaluation.

Key Organizational Relationships:

  • Reports to the Project Manager, CASCADE GAIN Uganda.
  • Collaborates with other project teams within GAIN Uganda.
  • Engages with CASCADE consortium partners and stakeholders.

Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and online tools.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Clear and systematic thinking with good judgment.
  • Flexibility to work effectively in a consortium.

Experience:

  • Experience in private sector engagement.
  • Understanding of government policy and regulations.
  • Organizing high-level meetings and events.
  • Facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues.
  • Working in consortiums to deliver complex projects.
  • Knowledge of food and nutrition sector (an advantage).

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field.
  • Strong experience in private sector work preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Fluent written and verbal English.
  • Ability to travel and work in different regions of Uganda.
  • Open to Ugandan Nationals only.
