Job Title: Operations Assistant (2 Fresher Jobs)
Location: Kampala, Uganda

As part of the Government of Uganda’s efforts to enhance access to financial services, MSC aims to promote employment and wealth creation through its services.

With a network of 13 regional offices across Uganda and over 160 Agency SACCOs, MSC offers affordable credit to its target clientele.

Job Summary:
The Operations Assistant will work closely with the Operational Officer to ensure accurate and efficient zonal accounting services, reporting, and administration that align with MSC’s internal control regulations and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to MSC’s financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support financial analysis of client appraisal reports and provide guidance on the loan process.
  • Manage Zonal imprest funds, maintaining adequate float and ensuring expenditure aligns with the budget.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for the Zone.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of the zonal budget.
  • Update and maintain the Zone’s assets register.
  • Participate in institutional training and development needs assessment within the zone.
  • Prepare vouchers and issue cheques with proper approval and signatures.
  • Maintain filing systems for accounting records including paid vouchers and supporting documents.
  • Ensure timely banking of all Company revenue.
  • Enter financial transactions into the computer system accurately.
  • Compile financial data for various reports as directed.
  • Timely weekly and monthly reporting on customer care, productivity, liquidity, reconciliation, etc.
  • Provide administration support for office cleaning, supplies, utilities, security, and vehicle management.
  • Procurement oversight for the Zonal office needs, including stationery, and provide budget variance reports to the Zonal Manager.
  • Maintenance of office equipment and general office cleanliness.

Key Result Areas:

  • Support in Budget preparation and Financial Reporting.
  • Assistance in the Credit delivery process.
  • Responsible for Zonal office administration.
  • Ensure compliance with MSC’s internal control regulations and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Diploma or Honors degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Development Finance, Education, Banking, or related discipline.
  • Two (02) years of progressive experience in business development services, Finance, or institutional capacity development management.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to gather and communicate information effectively.
  • Capacity to train and educate clients.
