Job Summary:
As a Micro Enterprise Counsellor with TechnoServe, you will play a pivotal role in implementing our efforts under the VINES-Project. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the capacity of youth entrepreneurs, Farmer Learning Center Hosts, and Farmers. You will work closely with rural communities, participants, and local stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of program activities. Your responsibilities will include work planning, training entrepreneurs, providing business advisory support, and monitoring program impact. Additionally, you will be responsible for reporting on the progress of program activities.

Program Overview:
TechnoServe, in collaboration with CRS and Frontier Co-op, is implementing the VINES project, aimed at making Uganda a leading supplier of high-quality vanilla. This five-year, $13 million initiative seeks to enhance vanilla production, develop market links with US trade networks, and strengthen policy networks to transform the lives of thousands of farmers and stakeholders in the vanilla value chain.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Mobilize participants to the program, promoting benefits and recruiting eligible individuals.
  • Conduct group orientation and team building activities within the program area.
  • Deliver training sessions adhering to program guidelines and standards.
  • Track attendance and report on progress regularly.
  • Provide aftercare support to program beneficiaries.
  • Capture and share success stories of entrepreneurs with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to enhance program understanding and collaboration.
  • Identify technical assistance needs at sub-county levels.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Business-related discipline; degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in entrepreneurship development and business support.
  • Strong private sector experience and client relationship building skills.
  • Proficiency in Monitoring and Evaluation tools.
  • Good computer skills (Excel and MS Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in local languages (Lhukonzo).
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit or willingness to acquire one.
