Job Summary:
The Logistics Assistant will primarily provide car-driver services for authorized passengers and/or items. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring timely and safe transportation of personnel and materials in line with MSC’s policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive MSC vehicles or transport authorized passengers to designated locations as approved by the supervisor, adhering to the MSC vehicle use & management policy.
  • Deliver packages, goods, mail, parcels, and other items to specified individuals, locations, or offices as per MSC guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough physical inspections of vehicle conditions before each journey, including engine oil, nuts, water, battery, license, insurance, brakes, and tire pressure. Perform regular maintenance tasks such as correcting hard starts, tightening bolts, and topping up battery water.
  • Ensure the security of vehicles, authorized passengers, and luggage according to vehicle policy.
  • Report any major or minor damages, accidents, or incidents involving the vehicle promptly to the supervisor using prescribed documentation/forms as per the MSC Vehicle Use & Management Policy.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle logbooks for fuel consumption, timely recording of journeys, and ensure that fuel provided by the organization is used only for authorized purposes.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly reports on vehicle usage and maintenance in accordance with MSC’s vehicle Use & Management Policy.
  • Uphold a high level of professionalism and represent MSC positively during interactions with passengers and the public.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of assigned vehicles both at the office and in the field.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor and management.

  • Timely and efficient delivery of official correspondences and materials.
  • Well-maintained condition of official vehicles.
  • Adherence to all transport policies and procedures set forth by MSC.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Uganda Education Level Certificate (O’ Level).
  • Valid Driving Permit Class B.
  • Certificate in Defensive Driving is mandatory.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of continuous driving experience in formal employment.
  • Additional certificate or qualification in motor vehicle maintenance will be an added advantage.

Competencies/Person Specifications:

  • Proficiency in English, with knowledge of Kiswahili being desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with colleagues and passengers.
  • Self-management abilities to handle tasks efficiently and responsibly.
  • Customer-centric approach to work and service delivery.
  • Adaptability to varying traffic and weather conditions.
  • Attention to detail in vehicle maintenance and driving practices.
