Organization Description: Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. is a German non-governmental organization dedicated to excellence in first aid, ambulance service, social service programs, and other medical and social field projects. Johanniter International Assistance (JIA) is the operational unit for humanitarian aid, with its Federal Headquarters (HQ) based in Berlin, Germany. Our Global Strategy 2027 focuses on disaster response and preparedness, health and livelihoods, with climate change and gender equality as crosscutting issues. We prioritize accountability, inclusivity, and safeguarding in our work.

Background: Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe e.V. Uganda Mission is a German NGO that opened an office in Kampala in 2017 to enhance its Uganda program and strengthen cooperation with local partners. Projects are spread across various districts, implementing both humanitarian and transitional development interventions.

Responsibilities: Logistics and Procurement (60%):

  • Support with all stages of procurement
  • Maintain procurement and logistics documents
  • Ensure quality of received goods
  • Conduct regular physical inventory checks
  • Manage contract trackers
  • Ensure compliance with donor and organizational policies

Driving and Vehicle Management (40%):

  • Drive designated organization vehicle safely
  • Maintain vehicle logbook and records
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance and cleanliness
  • Report incidents promptly
  • Responsible for all equipment stored in the vehicle

Other:

  • Perform tasks assigned by the Logistics & Procurement Officer

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a busy logistics department of an INGO
  • Valid Uganda driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Minimum of 6 years of driving experience
  • Training in Defensive Driving
  • Knowledge of road rules and mechanical or vehicle maintenance
  • Good computer skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 60% of the time
