Summary:
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Liaison and Monitoring Officer to join its team in Uganda. This role involves establishing connections with local stakeholders and communities, ensuring project activities align with local needs, and monitoring project progress in the Karamoja region. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving positive change and sustainable development outcomes in the area.

In Uganda, UNDP collaborates closely with the government and partners to advance sustainable development agendas, particularly in the culturally diverse and historically underserved Karamoja region.

Task Description:
Reporting to the UNDP Karamoja Field Coordinator, the Liaison and Monitoring Officer will:

• Cultivate relationships with local authorities, community organizations, and residents to support project activities.
• Ensure project alignment with community priorities and foster stakeholder ownership.
• Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders, addressing inquiries and facilitating collaboration.
• Develop monitoring systems to evaluate project progress accurately and advocate for marginalized groups’ inclusion.

Requirements:

• 3 years of project management and monitoring experience, including liaison roles.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Karamoja languages is an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, or related fields; a master’s degree is advantageous.
• Understanding of development challenges in Karamoja and strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation techniques and cultural sensitivity.
