Summary
ITHUBA Uganda, a dynamic organization within the Lottery and Gaming sector in Africa, is seeking a Legal and Compliance Officer to join its rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation within the company while contributing to its socio-economic objectives.

Job Details
ITHUBA is dedicated to operating the National Lottery ethically and efficiently, fostering pride among stakeholders, partners, and staff. The Legal and Compliance Officer will provide essential legal advice, conduct research, offer administrative support, and ensure regulatory compliance to mitigate legal risks. Reporting to the General Manager, they will address litigious matters, operational legal risks, and ensure contract compliance with relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support to the business, including research and administrative assistance.
  • Handle litigious matters and operational legal risks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation in employment and commercial contracts.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all legal, compliance, and data protection matters.

Qualifications and Skills

  • LLB Honors in Law and Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-article experience in law practice or in-house legal counsel.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating domestic and cross-border agreements.
  • Proficiency in conducting due diligence and vetting of suppliers and contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with lawmakers and government officials.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Exemplary planning and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work with minimum supervision.

Experience: 36 months
Education: Associate Degree
