Summary:
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking an Information Management Officer to support the Mixed Migration Centre – Eastern & Southern Africa. This role involves managing quantitative data collected by 4Mi enumerators and partners in the region. The successful candidate will ensure data quality, conduct analysis, provide training, and contribute to innovative data visualization projects.

Responsibilities:

Data Management:

  • Implement data cleaning and validation tasks on a weekly basis.
  • Lead coding surveys and reviewing codebooks.
  • Manage regional ONA platform for data storage.
  • Compile quantitative data from secondary sources.

Data Collection:

  • Maintain electronic data collection solutions.
  • Support training of 4Mi enumerators on questionnaire and software.
  • Provide feedback to project teams after cleaning data.

Data Analysis and Visualization:

  • Conduct quantitative analysis of 4Mi data using software like Excel, STATA, or R.
  • Produce snapshots and information factsheets based on data.
  • Support visualization of data, including GIS data.

Other:

  • Contribute to regional IM working groups.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the 4Mi project.

Qualifications:

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in quantitative research.
  • Proficiency in data management, cleaning, and validation.
  • Experience with electronic data collection procedures and solutions.
  • Familiarity with software applications like Excel, STATA, SPSS, R.
  • Strong attention to detail in dealing with quantitative data.

Preferred:

  • Experience in GIS theory and software (QGIS, ArcGIS, CARTODB).
  • Understanding of current mixed migration debates in the region.
  • Previous work experience with international NGOs.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and finding new solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, data analysis, or relevant computer science field.

Languages:
Full professional proficiency in English and Swahili; other regional languages are an asset.

We Offer:

  • Contract length: 6 months with possibility of extension.
  • Salary: Band NM H1.
  • Start date: June 1, 2024.
  • Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; or Kampala, Uganda.
  • Reporting Line: 4Mi Project Manager.
