About GARD: Grassroots Alliance for Rural Development (GARD) is a non-profit organization committed to empowering and building resilient communities. Established in 2019 and registered with the Uganda NGO Bureau, GARD operates from its head office in Kotido Municipality and field offices in Amudat and Napak districts, Karamoja Uganda. GARD’s work focuses on sustainable livelihoods, youth empowerment, gender equality, governance, and institutional strengthening.

Project Background: GARD is currently implementing the UNDP/KOICA Building Resilience in Conflict-affected and Fragile Communities of Karamoja (BRICK) project in Kotido district. This initiative aims to foster peace, security, and resilience among communities in Karamoja, addressing various conflict drivers.

Job Summary: The Finance & Administration Assistant will support the Head of Finance and Administration in implementing financial controls, office administration, procurement, payments, reporting, and logistics. This role involves working closely with various departments and ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Financial Support: Petty cash reconciliation, cash tracking, advance management, budget preparation, invoice processing, and financial reporting.
  • Administration: Front desk management, office cleanliness, inventory management, HR support, staff capacity building, and recruitment assistance.
  • Procurement & Logistics: Purchasing, vendor supervision, store management, asset tracking, and logistical support.
  • Information Documentation: File management, record-keeping, report circulation, and mail handling.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum three years of NGO finance, accounts, and administration experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure
  • Commitment to GARD’s values, safeguarding principles, equality, and diversity
