JOB DETAILS:

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships: The Field Associate is responsible for various functions related to Field activities within the UNHCR office, typically supervised by the (Senior) Field Officer or Head of Office. Responsibilities include monitoring the situation in the Area of Responsibility (AoR), data collection, monitoring programme implementation, assessing needs of persons of concern, maintaining contacts with local authorities and partners, administrative tasks, interpretation when required, and contributing to reports and meetings.

Duties:

  • Monitor the situation in the AoR, collect relevant data, and report to the supervisor.
  • Monitor UNHCR programme implementation and infrastructure.
  • Assess needs of persons of concern, particularly vulnerable groups.
  • Maintain contacts with local authorities and partners.
  • Act as an interpreter when needed.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and meetings.
  • Assist in administrative tasks.
  • Inform and act on reports received on persons of concern.
  • Assist in reception, registration, and provision of assistance to persons of concern.
  • Negotiate with local authorities, partners, and populations of concern.
  • Represent UNHCR in project monitoring.
  • Support risk identification and management.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Education & Professional Work Experience:

  • G6 level: 3 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.

Certificates and/or Licenses:

  • Business Administration, Law, Political Science.
  • Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to the position is desirable.
  • UNHCR field experience is desirable.

Functional Skills:

  • IT-Computer Literacy.
  • Drafting and Documentation.
  • Multi-stakeholder Communications with Partners, Government & Community.
  • Programme Management (programme cycles and reporting standards).

Language Requirements:

  • Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English, for International Professional and Field Service jobs.
  • Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English and local language, for National Professional jobs.
  • Knowledge of English and/or UN working language of the duty station if not English, for General Service jobs.
