Job Summary: The Crop Scout is vital to our agricultural operations, responsible for inspecting crops, assessing plant health, and identifying risks such as diseases, pests, and weed infestations. This role supports informed decision-making to optimize crop yield, quality, and overall farm productivity. The Crop Scout reports to the Technical Supervisor-Agronomy, contributing essential field insights to strategic agronomic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Planning: Schedule field monitoring activities.
  2. Monitoring and Surveying: Conduct field visits to assess crop health, identify risks, and estimate yields.
  3. Recording and Reporting: Collect and record field data, make recommendations, and communicate irregularities.
  4. Support Research and Development: Supervise field trials and participate in research projects.
  5. Quality Control: Ensure adherence to planting, spraying, fertilization, and harvesting standards.

Personal Specification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agriculture
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience on a large farm
  • Result-oriented, transparent, and integrity-driven
  • Physically fit and able to travel, work outdoors in various conditions
  • Open to learning new systems, effective planner, and time-conscious
  • Computer literate, ability to ride a motorbike with a license

Competencies:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
