Job Summary:
The Credit Officer plays a pivotal role in evaluating the creditworthiness of potential customers, managing credit risk, and nurturing positive relationships with existing clients. They are instrumental in safeguarding the financial well-being of the organization through prudent credit extension and debt management decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess the creditworthiness of potential customers by meticulously analyzing financial data, credit reports, and other pertinent information.
  • Determine suitable credit limits, terms, and conditions in line with risk assessment outcomes and company policies.
  • Monitor and oversee the credit portfolio to mitigate risk exposure and optimize profitability.
  • Review and sanction credit applications, ensuring compliance with established credit policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of existing customers’ creditworthiness and payment behaviors.
  • Initiate collection measures for overdue accounts, collaborating with collection officers for debt resolution.
  • Work closely with sales and customer service teams to address credit-related concerns and facilitate business expansion.
  • Compile and present credit-related reports and recommendations to management.
  • Stay abreast of industry dynamics, regulatory reforms, and credit management best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal protocols governing credit operations.

Experience & Knowledge required (to do the job):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in credit analysis, risk management, or a comparable role.
  • Profound understanding of financial statements, credit scoring methodologies, and risk evaluation techniques.
  • Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving proficiencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and credit management software.
  • Excellent communication skills to foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
