Summary:
SNV is seeking Consultancy Services to assist in the implementation of the Seas of Change (SoC) program, focusing on regenerative agriculture (RA) and productive use of renewable energy (PURE) in Uganda. This program aims to address key barriers in RA and PURE practices and foster sustainable development in the agricultural sector. The consultant will play a crucial role in selecting districts with the highest potential for program success and scalability.

Project Information:
SNV, with funding from the IKEA Foundation, is designing a long-term nexus program on RA and PURE in Uganda and Kenya. The program aims to make RA and PURE practices more accessible and affordable for smallholder farmers and agribusinesses. The selected consultant will contribute to the program’s inception phase and facilitate the identification of districts for initial intervention.

Job Description:
The consultant will assess agro-ecological zones and regions to select 15 districts with the highest potential for the RA/PURE nexus. Key tasks include identifying stakeholders, assessing entry points in value chains, and evaluating the potential for PURE within each agroecological zone. The consultant will collaborate closely with the SNV team and submit a comprehensive report of findings.

Qualifications:

• Proven track record in similar studies
• Good understanding of agriculture and energy sectors in Uganda
• Excellent analytical and writing skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with the SNV team
• Understanding of RA and PURE nexus-style programming preferred
