Job Purpose:
SNV seeks Communications Interns for the Climate Resilient Agribusiness for Tomorrow (CRAFT) project in Uganda. The interns will assist in strengthening information dissemination, knowledge harvesting, and documentation. They will support the communication advisor based in Kenya in generating in-country content. These interns will act as intermediaries between the project and farmers, playing a crucial role in promoting climate-smart agricultural practices for sustainability and resilience.

Key Position Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Aid Business Champions (BCs) in crafting and executing communication plans tailored to local contexts and target audiences.
  • Develop engaging content for various communication channels like social media, websites, newsletters, and print materials.
  • Assist in organizing training workshops, farmer field days, and community events to disseminate information about climate-smart agriculture practices.
  • Collaborate with BCs to create multimedia materials showcasing success stories and best practices resulting from CRAFT project interventions.
  • Conduct interviews and gather testimonials from smallholder farmers to highlight the impact of CRAFT interventions, particularly focusing on youths and women.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication activities, gather feedback from stakeholders, and provide recommendations for enhancing project impact.
  • Visit rural areas where assigned BCs operate to understand the local context.
  • Maintain documentation and records of communication materials, best practices, activities, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Work closely with BCs at the grassroots level to enhance communication and outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communication or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management and content creation.
  • Creativity and attention to detail in designing engaging communication materials.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, climate change, and sustainable development issues is desirable.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in local languages spoken in the project area is advantageous.
