About Us:

NIRA was established by the Registration of Persons Act (ROPA), 2015, with a mandate to create and maintain the National Identification Register (NIR). Among its responsibilities, NIRA registers citizens and legally resident aliens, assigns National Identification / Alien Identification Numbers (NINs/AINs) to eligible individuals, issues Identification Cards to those aged 16 years and above, registers births, deaths, and adoption orders, and issues relevant certificates.

Job Summary:

The Data Processors are tasked with processing, organizing, correcting, updating, and cataloging data. They also conduct data quality control checks, identify errors, address issues with application processing, and ensure all tasks are completed within set timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process data for all applicants.
  • Perform corrections on the National Identification Register data.
  • Manage data related to citizenship verification, quality control, production, and warehousing.
  • Generate daily/monthly/quarterly reports and statistics for submission to the shift supervisor.
  • Conduct routine data quality assurance checks to uphold the integrity of the register.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of data.
  • Carry out any other necessary tasks related to assigned data processing duties.
  • Handle timely escalations of incidents encountered during task execution.
  • Embed data protection and privacy in line with the Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, IT, Computer Sciences, Information Systems, BBA, Accounting, Law, or related field.
  • Proficiency in IT and computer usage.
  • Broad knowledge and experience working with biometric data.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, particularly concerning citizenship, is advantageous.
  • Demonstrates high moral character and integrity.
  • Ability to focus on quality and detail to meet precise specifications.
  • Quick learner with excellent team collaboration skills.
  • Proactive, innovative, and strong analytical abilities.
  • Capable of working independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and sit for extended periods working on a computer.
  • Prior experience in data processing with NIRA or the Electoral Commission is a plus.
