The Luigi Giussani Foundation (LGF) is a local organization focused on creating positive change, particularly addressing educational challenges in Uganda through research and capacity building. LGF has been actively involved in these efforts for the past 17 years. Presently, in partnership with Plan International Uganda, LGF is conducting an endline study for the LEGO Foundation Playful Futures project. As part of this project, LGF seeks to hire Research Assistants in the districts of Kamuli, Buyende, Tororo, Nebbi, Alebtong, and Lira on a temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend a 10-day training session at a specified central location
  • Assist in testing study instruments and preparing for fieldwork
  • Conduct endline data collection, including surveys for children aged 3-6 years, teachers, mentors, parents, and community leaders; as well as interviews and focus group discussions
  • Utilize Kobo Collect for data capture and ensure accurate uploads to the online server
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the project
  • Participate in reflection sessions during the data collection period
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Education OR a bachelor’s degree in other fields
  • Fluency in English and one local language spoken in the target districts:
    • Kamuli: Lusoga
    • Buyende: Lusoga
    • Tororo: Japadhola
    • Nebbi: Alur
    • Alebtong: Leblango
    • Lira: Leblango
  • Previous experience in research, particularly data collection involving children and parents
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines for research is an advantage
  • Experience using mobile data collection applications and comfort with smartphones/tablets is beneficial
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
