JOB DETAILS:
Advertisement for apprenticeship opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality Sector. The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities contributes to Objective 4 of the NDP III aimed at developing a pool of skilled personnel along the tourism value chain and ensuring decent working conditions. This will, at the same time, contribute to the NRM Manifesto, where the Government committed to developing and enhancing the capacity of the labor force along the tourism value chain through undertaking on-the-job training aimed at hands-on skills development for Ugandans.
The on-the-job training program is aimed at achieving the following objectives:
- To provide hands-on working experience to diverse professionals interested in pursuing a career in the tourism and hospitality industry.
- To provide an opportunity for young graduates to acquire relevant skills, to combine work and learning, and to reduce the school-to-work transition gap while improving the productivity and employability of young people.
- To allow the hospitality sector to contribute to the development of locally grown skilled workers, thereby reducing the cost of doing business through retraining and/or employing foreigners.
- To actively engage employers in training as part of ensuring that graduates possess skills relevant to the labor market requirement in the tourism sector.
In view of the above, the Ministry seeks applications from qualified Ugandans to apply for a one-year on-the-job training opportunity leading to the award of DIT level 1 Certificate.
