Summary:
The Ministry of Health is seeking two Technical Biosafety Officers to implement the capacity strategy of biosafety and biosecurity work plan under the National Health Laboratory and Diagnostic Services. This role involves strengthening personnel capacity in biorisk management reduction strategies through training, audits, support supervisions, and mentorships in Biosafety and Biosecurity for the Ministry of Health and implementing partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the National coordination to execute planned interventions in biosafety and biosecurity.
- Participate in the development of Laboratory Biosafety/Biosecurity standards and guidelines for capacity building of personnel.
- Develop and execute annual work plans and budgets based on sector resources.
- Support implementation of Biorisk management trainings, audits, mentorships, and support supervisions.
- Develop Laboratory Biosafety/Biosecurity audit plans and schedules and participate in audits.
- Contribute to the development of training and capacity-building materials for laboratory Biosafety/Biosecurity.
- Submit periodic Biorisk management performance reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology Sciences.
- Full registration and Practicing license with Allied Health Professionals Council.
- Trained in lab Biorisk management systems and lab quality management system.
- At least 2 years experience in laboratory capacity-building roles.
- Current knowledge of ISO standards ISO 35001:2019 & ISO 15190:2020.
- Experience in health laboratory system strengthening.
Functional Skills:
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Teamwork and good communication skills.
- Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement.
