About Us

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), a semi-autonomous body, is leading the implementation of the National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) 2024. This census, mandated by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act 1998, aims to gather crucial socio-demographic data to aid in national planning and development.

Job Description

As a Census Enumeration Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the enumeration exercise within your assigned area. This temporary position requires dynamic, competent, and responsible individuals to undertake the following tasks:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Distribution and Retrieval: Manage the distribution and retrieval of Census materials and devices within your designated area.
  2. Community Mobilization: Mobilize local community members, including LC1/Cell members, to serve as guides and facilitate the census process.
  3. Technical Supervision: Provide technical and administrative supervision within the assigned area, ensuring adherence to census protocols.
  4. Data Collection: Utilize software on provided devices to monitor and oversee data collection by assigned enumerators.
  5. Editing and Validation: Ensure accurate editing and validation of captured data in accordance with provided guidelines.
  6. Hotel/Lodge Census: Collect information on individuals staying in hotels and lodges on the census night, administering the community questionnaire.
  7. Community Engagement: Coordinate with community leaders, organizing focus group discussions to complete relevant questionnaires.
  8. Enumerator Management: Recommend enumerators for payment upon completion of assigned tasks.
  9. Reporting: Regularly report to Sub-County Census Supervisors/Division Census Supervisor on progress and challenges within your area.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of a Diploma level training.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in basic computer applications.
  • Identification: Possession of a National Identity Card.
  • Age: Between 18 and 50 years.
  • Residency: Must be a resident of the Parish/Ward where the position is located.
  • Community Engagement: Proven ability to mobilize and engage with the local community.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and public relations skills.
  • Smartphone: Must possess a smartphone for data collection purposes.
  • Mobile Money: Must have a registered phone number on Mobile Money in their OWN NAMES.
  • Availability: Exclusive availability for the Census activity from 1st April to 25th May 2024.
